Product Features and Details
Prototype:
The BR 97.5 Adhesion/Rack locomotive was one of the largest adhesion/rack locomotives built for the German railroads. It was built by Maschinenfabrik Esslingen locomotive works in 1922. The 97.5 were placed into service on the Royal Württembergische State Railways to operate on mountainous routes located in Bad Württemberg Germany. The locomotive was able to haul heavy freight trains over 6% grades. The 97.5 were taken out of service in the mid 1960's.
Model:
Micro Metakit introduced the plans to build this model three years ago and will finally be delivered late this summer. The model will be a functional work of art. It will feature a complete and functional inner rack system and will run with a double motion drive just like the prototype. The outer drive rods will turn slower and the inner rods will spin twice as fast to move the cog gears. The model will also feature a brush-less can motor, full cab and boiler interior, spring loaded buffers and more.
